Season 19 adapts the Whole Cake Island arc.
The nineteenth season of *One Piece*, produced by Toei Animation under director Toshinori Fukuzawa, aired on Fuji Television in Japan starting April 9, 2017. It continues the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates. The "Whole Cake Island" arc adapts content from the latter part of manga volume 82 through the early portion of volume 90 by Eiichiro Oda. In this arc, Luffy and a small crew aim to rescue Sanji from a forced marriage meant to secure a political alliance between the Vinsmoke family and Big Mom's family. An epilogue features the "Reverie" (also called "Levely"), a global meeting of royalty to discuss world-affecting issues. Three opening themes are used: "We Can" by Kishidan and Hiroshi Kitadani (episodes 783–806), "Hope" by Namie Amuro from her album *Finally* (episodes 807–855), and "Super Powers" by V6 (episodes 856–891). In a review for Anime News Network, Sam Leach gave the first two Reverie episodes a "B−" and "B" rating, praising character interactions but criticizing the lengthy flashbacks as "disposable" and noting that the anime's pacing sometimes failed to serve the source manga material well.
